What is Visual Facilitation:
Visual Facilitation leverages the power of visual thinking - the ability to think in pictures - to deepen engagement and understanding through the use of graphics such as diagrams, pictures or symbols. In this session you will learn how this technique can be useful in leading meetings, workshops or community engagement sessions. Visuals support groups to understand abstract ideas or complex processes quickly. Susana has successfully used visual facilitation to lead complex projects and develop community based education programs. You do NOT have to be an artist, you just need a willingness to try something new, put pen to paper, and have fun. GUEST SPEAKER Susana Guardado currently lives on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen speaking and WSÁNEĆ Peoples in Southern Vancouver Island. Originally from El Salvador, she has called Canada home since she was 17. She holds a BA in Child and Youth Care and a MA in Community Development and has worked in the field internationally and locally for the past 20 years. As a dedicated community builder she works to create connections across differences. Susana specialises in using a community development approach to facilitation and learning design, making spaces for people to talk about difficult topics and creating opportunity for societal change. Susana is a visual practitioner. She uses hand drawn images to deepen understanding, increase engagement, and foster positive communication. She can be reached at brightlightideas.ca MODERATOR
